WHAT IS ADVENTURE EDUCATION?
- Adventure education is an extremely popular and effective way for Christian groups to grow closer to one another, to strengthen faith, and to confidently reach out to others in service.
- Adventure education utilizes nature, physical activity and a low and high challenge course to help children, youth, families, adults, church leaders, mentor groups, and cross-generational groups strengthen their Christian life together.
- A low and high challenge course offers a serious of group and individual activities and challenges using cables, ropes, and climbing poles. Participants choose whether the level of activity they want to engage in.
WHO LEADS ADVENTURE EDUCATION?
Dr. Paul Hill facilitates these events. Paul leads groups through powerful, adventure experiences and has done so for more than 25 years. As a certified adventure facilitator he works with congregational leadership teams, youth groups, mentor groups, families, students, camp staffs, and corporate groups. Through his research Paul has shown how important this kind of experience is in the spiritual life of boys and men.
Sara Larson Woodruff, a Senior Associate at TYFI also leads adventure experiences. In addition to over thirteen years of experience working with youth, young adult, and camping ministries, Sara is completing two Master’s degrees,
one in theology and the second in adventure education. She specializes in working with women, through a wide variety of adventure and retreat experiences including backpacking, canoeing, climbing and kayaking. Sara’s mission is to create safe and encouraging experiences for women to encounter their lives in new and empowering ways.
